The Rochester CPCU Society Chapter is conducting a fundraiser at Buffalo Wild Wings to help with the effort to fund Alfie's medical needs on September 27, 2016. Come out and join us for this networking event for a small fee of $20.00. All proceeds will be donated to The Fund for Alfie.

Alfie is an eleven-year-old boy from Sierra Leone, the son of Thomas Paasewe, and grandson of Louise Sherman, both members of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church in Rochester, NY.  Alfie struggles with extreme Hypotonia (which can be described as weakness and floppiness of the muscles and joints) of unknown origin. In Alfie’s case, this condition has affected his entire body since infancy, preventing him from functioning and developing normally.  He cannot sit without assistance. He has limited motor skills, and little sustained speech.  The inability to hold his head up creates the risk of dislocating his neck. Because he cannot chew for long periods, he has difficulty receiving sufficient nourishment.

In conjunction with St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church and The Tuke Agency, our effort to raise funds for Alfie’s medical testing and travel to Rochester is underway.

Alfie needs to come to Golisano Children’s Hospital to receive necessary diagnostic testing in the hope of identifying treatment that may make his life more comfortable.  Doctors at Golisano estimate the cost of assessment and initial treatment to be $11,285.  In addition, transportation for Alfie and his mother could be up to $5,000.

Timing of fundraising is critical.  The US Consulate requires that all necessary funds be raised before Alfie’s family can apply for the visas needed for travel to the United States.

Thank you for your support!
